The two NETS-T indicators that I would like to focus my growth in strengthening my confidence and proficiency are:
1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
b. engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources
2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and
a. design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity
The GAME plan
Goals: learn more about the digital tools and resource that are available to aid students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems and to use those tools to promote creativity and application of content.
Action: learn one new tool a week-2 depending on the tool- for six to ten weeks and incorporate it into a lesson to model for students its availability to explore issues and to solve problems. If appropriate, students will employ the new tool to create a project that will express their creativity and learning of content.
Monitor: make a chart/rubric of the tools applied. Make note if the tool was used appropriately, if it engaged students in exploring and solving problems, and were students able to use it to demonstrate their creativity and learning the content.
Evaluate and Extend: Review notes of each tool. Determine which tools the students seemed most engaged in learning and which tools helped students express their creativity more effectively. Use the results to determine which tools would be best for specific content learning and project-based activities.
Practicing these tools and skills in the classroom is the best way to become proficient. I feel it imperative that I feel and my students feel confident in using these tools before I can move ont to some of the other indicators. Any ideas to add would be appreciated!

Rebekah,
ReplyDeleteI commend you for setting the goal of learning a new tool per week. I think it is wonderful if you can learn as many tools as possible to create lesson and activities that can engage your students in deeper learning and can allow them to be creative. I also like the idea of using rubrics as I use them to assess my students' work quite often. If you are giving a grade using a rubric I will suggest that you let your students know ahead of time what areas you will be grading or give them a copy of the rubric so they know exactly what to do to get full credit.

Yolalnda,
ReplyDeleteI think it will be quite a challenge! But my main goal in doing this is for exposure to the different tools available and which ones that I or the students want to develop more fully. Thanks for the rubric suggestion for I am still new at using them!
Rebekah,
ReplyDeleteIn your post I like not only about you the learning of new tools but evaluating the students response to them. My business teacher worked with her students using Claymation. Now I would have thought a high school student using playdough to create a short video wouldn't have went over well but the students took this thing to the next level. I was amazed at what they produced. It was far from the old Gumby claymation. Now the students want to use this tool regularly.

Cindy,
ReplyDeleteThat is my goal. I hope students can find a media that they enjoy to help express their creativity in learning the content. Surely with all that is available, their is some tool each student can benefit from.

ReplyDeleteI love your aggressive approach and willingness to tackle a large goal. It is a great goal too! I remember when I started teaching through technology and our first quarter with one-to-one. There were so many things to learn, that we had to tackle things with great drive. You have that drive. Good for you! I can't wait to hear about your progress.
